The city’s Hospitality Association continues in its efforts to promote an even better image of the bar and transmit its gastronomy through the tapas and snacks offered in its bars. A Tapas Competition has been a feature of this event for some years and a number of well known chefs manage specialised courses. The Tapas Festival of Navarre was held for two consecutive years in a large marquee erected in the exhibition space of Yanguas y Miranda in Pamplona. In 1999 a new event was included consisting of a bar-crawl of local establishments where lovers of this type of cuisine could enjoy the unique tapas and banderillas. A number of bars of the Ribera participate in the week.
