Vinaròs - Saborea España

The church Fortaleza de la Asunción, the market and restaurants where you can try the excellent Vinaròs prawn, the 25 beaches and sheltered coves (some suitable for dogs), the Serra del Puig nature reserve with its millenary olive trees or Vinaròs carnival are just some of the reasons why we recommend you come to Vinaròs, capital of the area of Bajo Maestrazgo in the north of the Valencian Community. However, we know that what will make you feel good is our Mediterranean lifestyle: life in the open air, conversation with the locals or, as simple as it might be, a walk taking in the sea air that infuses every nook and cranny of Vinaròs.

In terms of gastronomy, the fishers, farmers, manufacturers, bakers, pastry chefs and cooks are the real stars. The tradition of a coastal town united with an abundance of locally-grown fruit and vegetables provide a wide variety of flavours and aromas to add to the wealth of Mediterranean cuisine. Rice dishes, fish and seafood, alongside Vinaròs prawns – renowned in gastronomy worldwide thanks to their flavour and quality, are the culinary basis for a wide variety of delicious dishes that are sure to tickle your taste buds.

Located in the Maestrazgo region, between the Valencian Community and Catalunya, the people here combine tradition and innovation in everything they do. The gastronomy is a good example, in which they take the most prized products from land and sea to transform them into delicious cuisine – rice dishes, king prawns, anchovies and sardines, fideuá (paella with noodles), etc. and desserts for those who have a sweet tooth – cocs (topped or filled pastry) and home-made pastissets (sweet pasties) or local fruit, not forgetting our oranges, of course. Furthermore, the town boasts an ancestral treasure – its age-old olive trees which, having taken root in the region of Maestrazgo centuries ago, give us a highly aromatic oil, full of both flavour and sentimentality.

Vinaròs is a cheerful, open-minded town which maintains traditions that have become a motive for celebration, living and growing beside the sea where the fishing boats bob up and down after a hard day’s work trawling for the most well-known local crustacean – the Vinaròs prawn.
