Saborea España took part on June 16 and 17 in Travel Press Live, the travel industry event organized by Baxter Media in Toronto and designed to connect the key players of the Canadian travel trade: destinations, hotels, airlines, tour operators, travel agents, media and influencers, in a format that breaks away from the traditional trade show and focuses on networking, training and immersive experience.
Saborea España’s presence, represented by Cambrils, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, was structured around three days with complementary objectives: positioning World Tapas Day before Canadian travel professionals, bringing the Spanish gastronomic experience to the media, and building commercial relationships with leading Canadian tour operators.
The delegation was accompanied by Mayre Modrego, board member of Saborea España and Managing Director of Euro-Toques España, and Isabel Martín, Tourism Counsellor and Director of the Spanish Tourism Office in Canada.
June 16: Tastings and the presentation of World Tapas Day
The first day focused on the trade audience. Saborea España and Turespaña presented World Tapas Day to travel agents, tour operators and influencers attending the event from the main stage. In parallel, Saborea España set up its own space to showcase Spanish dishes and products.
June 17: Live cooking shows and roundtable
At the joint Saborea España and Turespaña stand, a series of live cooking demonstrations were held, led by chefs from three destinations: Cambrils, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. The format gave attendees a first-hand experience of Spain’s gastronomic diversity, from Mediterranean cuisine to the Atlantic island flavors of the Canary Islands.
A second roundtable on gastronomic tourism brought together representatives from Saborea España and Turespaña to discuss the trends shaping international gastronomic travel demand.
June 18: Gala dinner at BESO restaurant
The Spanish gala dinner, held at BESO restaurant in Toronto, closed the Spanish presence in two parts.
In the early evening, a media presentation outlined the positioning of Spain’s gastronomic brand and the scope of the World Tapas Day initiative.
Later that evening, the gala dinner — prepared in collaboration with local Toronto chefs — was presented to VIP guests and media convened by Turespaña. The menu brought together a gastronomic experience representative of the participating destinations, positioning Saborea España as host of a culinary dialogue between Spanish cuisine and Canadian gastronomic talent.
A bet on the North American market
With this participation, Saborea España strengthens its strategy to internationalize Spain’s gastronomic brand in strategic markets such as Canada, combining B2B activation with travel trade professionals and visibility generation among media and end consumers, in line with the rollout of the Saboreando 2026 campaign and its flagship initiative, Tapeando, built around World Tapas Day.
