The wine of Pisuerga valley and the Castilla canal

The Cigales Wine Route is located in the Pisuerga Valley, through which the Castilla Canal runs. Many of the beams used in the area’s traditional wineries were transported by the Castilla Canal to the winemaking districts of the winegrowing region of Cigales.

El Pago de Miraflores is a privileged place to view the entire Valley and the uplands where the Pisuerga Cliffs are located, from Altamira Hill in Cabezón de Pisuerga; at its foot, you can find Restaurante Bodegón el Ciervo.

On the Cigales Wine Route, the Cathedral of Wine is located in the town of Cigales. It was christened as such because its construction was partly funded by the taxes generated by wine when the court was in Valladolid. The points of interest along this route are as follows:

  • Bodegas Finca Museum.
  • Traditional Cigales Wine Cellar
  • Church of Santiago Apóstol
  • Restaurante Bodegón El Ciervo
  • Bodega Hiriart
  • Hotel Rural La Casa del Valle
