Designatiom of origin “Rueda”
Rueda was Castilla y Leon’s first Designation of Origin. It received the the DO in 1980. The wine produced here is known as Verdejo, and it’s won international acclaim for its quality and character, defined by the type of grape used, the verdejo; the climate; and the gravelly soil. Beginning in 2008 the area’s reds and rosés have also been backed by the DO. The grapes are produced in some 74 towns: 53 in Valladolid, 17 in Segovia and 4 in Ávila.

Valtiendas wines
Valtiendas is a wine-producing county in Sevilla with long experience in making reds. It’s Segovia’s first and only Designation of Origin. The area’s harsh climate, with extreme temperature swings from day to night, produces a ripe grape with tough, thick skin which influences the color, variety and structure of the wine. The Valle del Duratón’s altitude causes the grapes to ripen slowly, and keeps the per-hectare production low, which lends a singular and complex structure to the wines. The Association of Quality Wines from Valtiendas is comprised of vintners and wineries who produce their wines within this region to the north of the province of Segovia. Experts recognize this area as one of Castilla y Leon’s best for producing high quality grapes. The wineries are the engine of the local economy, producing more than 30 full-time jobs besides many other temporary jobs. For their part the vintners have but one goal:growing their grapes to perfection.
