Rum - Saborea España

Rum

The village of Arucas on Gran Canaria was planting sugarcane even before the plant was introduced in Cuba. In the 19th Century, when the island experienced its urban, industrial boom, it built one of the most modern factories for sugarcane milling and processing. Thanks to the investment in the San Pedro Factory, the island’s most famous rum was born; San Pedro became a distillery which, a century and a half later, has become part of the island’s very identity. Five centuries of sugarcane harvesting haven’t just made our distilleries famous, but have spawned a wide array of pastries and sweets – and our renowned DGP “honey rum.” Sampling it, and visiting our distillery (the largest and oldest rummaker in Europe) is as easy as signing up for a guided tour.
