The Garnacha, one of the oldest and most recognized grapes
Zaragoza has three Protected Designations of Origin where the Garnacha vines are the clear favorites among winemakers: Campo de Cariñena, Calatayud and Campo de Borja. It’s a variety resistent to drought, tough climates, and strong winds. It’s achieved its quality and prestige in the grand old vineyards of the region.
Garnacha wine goes with just about any meal. It pairs well, as they say colloquially in restaurant and wine circles. It has nothing to do with biochemistry nor with what people in-the-know say, but rather due to people’s personal appreciation of its flavors. The most important thing is to simply enjoy it.
