Black suckling pig - Saborea España

The Black Canarian Pig is the only native swine on the archipelago and is included in the Offical Catalogue of Ranch Animals of Spain. Thanks to its unique fibrous muscle it’s ideal for achieving the proper balance of fat – “good” polyunsaturated fat rich in omega-3 acids, which lend the meat a reddish hue and maximize juiciness – something highly valued by customers.

In 2012 the government of Gran Canaria created the Guaranteed Seal of Quality for the black canarian pig, which more and more ranchers are starting to raise. This guaranteed meat meets a number of criteria pertaining to habitat, feed and how the animals are sacrificed, in order to ensure the high quality of the product.
