Castelldefels joins Saborea España as a new flagship gastronomic destination

Saborea España welcomes a new member to its network of food and wine destinations. Castelldefels, recently recognized as one of the 26 gastronomic capitals of the world, has joined the association to strengthen its position as a leading destination where cuisine, landscape and sustainability go hand in hand.

This new membership represents an important step forward in the city’s strategy to promote the brand “Castelldefels Capital Gastronòmica”, a project that brings together history, territory and local produce with the aim of showcasing to the world the culinary essence of this Mediterranean seaside city.

“The incorporation of Castelldefels into Saborea España reinforces our commitment to a sustainable model of gastronomic tourism, based on local produce and the unique identity of each destination,” the association explains. “Its proposal fits perfectly with the vision of a Spain that is discovered – and savoured – through its territories, its cuisine and its producers.”

A new ally for high-quality gastronomic tourism

By joining Saborea España, Castelldefels becomes part of the leading national platform devoted to turning gastronomy into a high-value tourism experience. Supported by Turespaña, this initiative brings together destinations, chefs, restaurateurs and producers from all over the country.

From now on, the destination will take part in joint promotional actions, both in Spain and abroad, where “l’Arròs de Castelldefels” and the proximity products of the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat will play a central role as ambassadors of the territory.

Gastronomic capital, international network and a clear focus on UNESCO

The recognition as a gastronomic capital and the incorporation into Saborea España add to other recent milestones for Castelldefels, such as its entry into the international network Délice – The Food Capitals and its candidacy as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, based on a culinary model that embraces diversity, sustainability and local products.

Well-established events such as the Ruta de la Tapa (Tapas Route), the Mostra de Cuina (Food Fair), the Wine Fair and various gastronomic festivals, together with the work of the Hospitality School and the Gastronomic Brotherhood of Castelldefels, have helped place the city firmly on the national and international gastronomic map and to consolidate a vibrant, dynamic food scene.

“Saborea Castelldefels”: signature experiences

Joining Saborea España will make it possible to promote new proposals under the umbrella “Saborea Castelldefels”, integrating restaurants, local producers, culture and Mediterranean landscape into experiences designed for travellers who want to enjoy gastronomy at a slower pace, in true slow travel style.

In this way, Castelldefels joins the Saborea España network by bringing its Mediterranean character, its close relationship with the sea and local produce, and its commitment to a responsible, high-quality tourism model.

“With Castelldefels, we continue to weave a network of destinations that share the same vision: turning gastronomy into a driving force for cultural identity, local development and international projection for Spain,” conclude representatives from Saborea España.
